Traditional Keeping Room

Johnson House

DESIGN CHALLENGES ADDRESSED:

This clients Keeping Room sits right off her kitchen and has the most amazing view of the lake. This is kind of like her “Woman Cave”, this is her room in the house where she winds down and relaxes after a long day. She felt as if her windows were a bit bare. She wanted us to give her windows some “Earrings”, nothing fussy just something to frame the windows but still keep her view. She felt her sofa needed some comfy accent pillows and her end and accent tables were a bit bare. She has two beautiful built-in bookcases on both sides of the fireplace that also needed some love.

DESIGN SOLUTIONS PROVIDED:

We were very excited to get our hands on this space. We started with linen blend window treatments in a natural color. On the main window wall we did a pair of stationary panels draped on vintage medallions. On the adjacent wall we draped four stationary panels on a wooden rod with a deep brown and brushed gold finish.

We added accent pillows throughout her seating, and touched of accessories on her tabletops. Her bookshelves yet beautiful were white on white, but they needed contrast so we added a grasscloth on the back of the shelf. We then layered the top and each shelf with touches of accessories. On the wall connecting the kitchen to the keeping room there was a lot of open space above the passageway so we added a large sunburst mirror in antique gold.
