This was one of the last rooms that we had to design for this client. She wasn’t sure how she wanted the space to function but she did want it to be some type of entertaining room. This is the first room in the front of her home so she wanted something with a statement, she likes neutrals and textures.
We had the Idea of creating a “Conversation Room” which is what we like to call the modern-day approach to a Formal Living Room. We love working with color but when our client said that she loved neutrals we took the more rich tone approach by incorporating deep browns, blacks, golds, and ivory. Since she wanted a statement in the room we knew that we had to add wallpaper to our Design Presentation. We selected a deep brown and gold hex pattern wallpaper that had great texture as well, she absolutely loved it! Since a neutral palette was on the forefront of the design we had to amp up the texture. So we did a cool mixed material shag rug, faux alligator leather accent chairs with shag pillows, and rich taupe crushed velvet window treatments. We used a gorgeous brass mirror which has a cool interlocking design incorporated in the frame that was able to float right above her buffet and lamps that were brought in from another room that we were able to repurpose. Three large abstract pieces of art were used to tie the space together. This room is now used for entertaining her guest. Since the room does not have a tv its function is solely based on great conversation, drinking cocktails, and taking in the beautiful space. She is in love with this room, it's now her favorite room in her home.
